Kelly A. Healy joins DSR Health Law as an Associate specializing in health care regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining DSR, Kelly worked in the Office of Legal Services at the California Department of Managed Health Care where she gained extensive knowledge of California’s health care delivery system. While at the Department, Kelly advised on statutory and regulatory compliance issues, made legal and policy recommendations in implementing the Knox-Keene Act, and responded to sensitive and complex Public Records Act requests. In addition, she handled negotiations, settlement agreements, and submissions to the State Personnel Board.

Lisa J. Mayberry joins DSR Health Law as an Associate, expanding the firm’s capacity to serve the needs of DSR’s valued health care clients. Lisa is a litigation attorney with experience in both civil and administrative law. Prior to DSR, Lisa worked in the Office of Enforcement at the California Department of Managed Health Care. As an enforcement attorney, Lisa investigated and prosecuted matters involving health care service plans’ compliance with the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975, and represented the Department in administrative actions. With this experience, Lisa gained an invaluable perspective to health care law, managed care plans, and issues involving regulatory compliance. Prior to the Department, as plaintiff’s counsel in civil matters, Lisa’s practice involved extensive litigation.

DSR PARTNER, MICHAEL J. DAPONDE, WILL DISCUSS THE STATE HEALTH REFORM UPDATE AT CSHA’S ANNUAL MEETING & SPRING SEMINAR
Michael J. Daponde will present on April 5, 2019 (10-11am PST) at the Annual Meeting and Spring Seminar hosted by the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys (“CSHA”) in La Jolla. This year’s three-day seminar will focus on, and provide, an in-depth overview of changes to California health law. CLE credit is offered.
Mr. Daponde will discuss Governor Newsom’s proposals to lower health care costs and increase access, including moving to universal or single-payer health care, consolidating the state’s prescription drug purchases into a state-run program, expanding Medi-Cal to undocumented immigrants, instituting an individual mandate/penalty, and appointing a California Surgeon General and a mental health “czar.” Mr. Daponde will also discuss the legislature’s response to these proposals, as well as California’s response to federal actions.

For the second year in a row, DSR Health Law counsel, David P. McDonough, will proudly serve as Co-Chair for the Health Care Law Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association. David’s focus on health care law in his daily practice will serve the Section well as he continues his role as Co-Chair.
