This year, McGeorge celebrates 20 years of the Jeffrey K. Poilé LGBT Memorial Scholarship which was established in 2002 by McGeorge Professor Larry Levine. The scholarship provides support to students who are committed to using their legal education to extend and protect the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.

DSR is pleased to serve as a sponsor for this year’s Wiley W. Manuel Bar Association’s (WWMBA) Legal Fusion event.
Scheduled on October 27 at The Firehouse in Old Sacramento, the primary purpose of WWMBA’s Legal Fusion is to fund scholarships for African American law school students in the Sacramento region. The event will not only focus on inspiring youth to seek careers in the legal field, it will also celebrate and honor local African American community leaders for outstanding service.

DSR is honored to serve as a sponsor for the Sacramento Filipino American Lawyers Association’s (SacFALA) 4th Annual “Seat at the Table” Gala.
The SacFALA Gala, held on October 6 at 5 p.m. in Old Sacramento, will celebrate diversity as well as the contributions made to the legal profession by the Filipino American community. The evening will include dinner, music, and keynote remarks from Rose Cuison Villazor, Co-Dean, Professor of Law, and Chancellor’s Social Justice Scholar at Rutgers University School of Law.
SacFALA is an association of Filipino American lawyers, judges, and law students in the Sacramento area. SacFALA was formed to address the legal issues and professional concerns confronting the Filipino American community in the region. Learn more here.

This annual award, presented by the Sacramento Business Journal, honors local companies that cultivate a rewarding and balanced work environment. Honorees are determined exclusively on the basis of their employees’ responses to survey questions that measure employee engagement and satisfaction in categories such as teamwork, trust, compensation, and benefits. Survey scores are then reviewed and evaluated by a third-party company to determine the Best Places to Work.

DSR is honored to support Women Lawyers of Sacramento (WLS) as they celebrate 60 years of service and dedication to the local legal community. DSR partner, Megan Rowe, had the privilege to serve as President of WLS during its 50th anniversary in 2012. Megan is still a proud WLS member as are all of DSR’s women lawyers.
WLS is premised on the belief that women deserve equal rights, respect, and opportunities in the workplace and in society at large. For decades, WLS has supported and encouraged women lawyers in their career aspirations while promoting a society that places no limits on where a woman’s skills and talents can take her.
