DSR is proud to serve as a sponsor for the California Supreme Court Reception hosted by Women Lawyers of Sacramento (WLS).  WLS will welcome the California Supreme Court on February 6 after the Court hears oral arguments for four cases here in Sacramento.  The sold out event will be held at the Third District Court of Appeal.

Founded in 1962, WLS began as a small group of attorneys who recognized and filled the need for a bar association dedicated to the advancement of women in the legal profession.  WLS advocates for legislative changes to benefit women and children and supports qualified candidates for judicial and other public appointments.

Kelly Healy was recently sworn in as a member of the Women Lawyers of Sacramento (WLS) Board.  Kelly will make a great addition to the 2024 WLS Board in her position as Co-Chair of the Grants and Awards Committee.

Melissa Morgan joins DSR Health Law as a Litigation Associate, expanding the firm’s capacity to serve the needs of DSR’s valued health care clients.  Melissa’s prior experience includes representing plaintiffs in personal injury litigation.

Melissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University, Chico and she obtained her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

Claire Fenton recently joined DSR Health Law as Counsel. She has practiced health care law for over a decade, focusing on health care compliance and transactional matters. Claire has extensive experience advising on statutory and regulatory compliance issues, corporate structuring, licensing and certification, HIPAA, and contract drafting and negotiation. Claire’s experience also includes corporate formation and governance, non-profits, telemedicine, and operational and business issues.

Kat Gallagher joins DSR Health Law as Counsel. Kat has over 15 years of experience as a litigator and transactional attorney serving businesses and individuals in various areas of law. Her experience includes areas such as breach of contract, business torts, personal injury, employment law, workers’ compensation subrogation, unlawful detainer, estate planning, and intellectual property.

Kat is a member of Women Lawyers of Sacramento and currently serves on the Development Committee as Co-Chair. She is also involved with the California Lawyers Association as a member of both the Litigation Section and the Business Section where she has held numerous leadership roles. Kat has been selected to the Northern California Super Lawyers list for five consecutive years.

This year, McGeorge celebrates 20 years of the Jeffrey K. Poilé LGBT Memorial Scholarship which was established in 2002 by McGeorge Professor Larry Levine. The scholarship provides support to students who are committed to using their legal education to extend and protect the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.
